Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee

The IAASE Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee will research best special education practices, formulate documents for distribution of current information and support the most current educational best practices of importance to the IAASE membership.

Function and Tasks of the Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee


  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee will identify best practices and research requests from the IAASE Executive Board. Research results will be provided through written documents, website postings and conference presentations for the general membership.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee will develop RFPs that encourage LRE and best practices that can be supported by IAASE including but not limited to assessment, instruction, curriculum, program evaluation, implementation of RTI strategies and service delivery.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee will write articles for the IAASE Newsletter and provide ongoing information for inclusion on the website.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee will develop linkages that promote research based educational practices and innovative practices.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee will support IAASE Members in the application for the IAASE Innovative Practices Award and Mini-grants for Action Research.

  • The IAASE President will recommend the approval of the Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Chairperson(s) from a membership list of current Members.

  • Terms of the Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Chairperson(s) shall be for two (2) years and their appointment aligned with the term and recommendation of each new IAASE President. Chairperson(s) may be reappointed for successive two (2) year terms. Chairperson(s) who leave the position prior to the end of the two (2) years shall be replaced to fulfill the remaining portion of the two (2) year term.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Chairperson(s) shall be a voting Member(s) of the IAASE Executive Board.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Chairperson(s) will appoint Members in good standing to participate on the Committee. The Committee Chairperson(s) may add Members at any time and the term will be consistent with the term of each IAASE President.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Members will consist of a minimum of five (5) Members.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Members will be selected based on the diversity of the IAASE membership including, the IAASE regions, experience, gender and racial background.

  • The Innovative Practices / Service Delivery Committee Members terms shall be for two (2) years and their appointment aligned with the term of each new IAASE President. The Innovative Practices Committee Members may be reappointed to successive two (2) year terms. Innovative Practice Mini-Grant Information

The Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE) is sponsoring a mini-grant to encourage the implementation of innovative practices in education. The project must focus on the implementation of one of the following innovative practices in the areas of assessment, instruction, or service delivery.
